We Called Her Bertha
We called her Bertha - art film is a sister work to the stage work of the same name, which was born in Korona in the spring of 2021. The film was made in collaboration with a dancers and choreographers Reetta-Kaisa Iles and Johanna Elovaara. The movie is based on their long lasted performance.
We Called Her Bertha is a film where two dancers are trying to find their relationship to an empty theatre and with each other. The theatre has it's own concept of time and space. On their way from the deserted stage to an inviting dreamy destination these two dancers will have to accept their inevitable new reality.

Without you (me) I wouldn’t be here
Most often crowds are needed in order to verify a person’s status. I waited for the crowds. I seriously waited. I suspect I even waited in my past life.
Eventually, I came to the conclusion: if the crowds won’t navigate my way, I shall glorify myself. I sticked the blue badge of verification on my cheek, with eye lash glue, and basked on empowerment.
I have a narrow, full-length mirror on my wall. Beside the mirror, both on the left side and the right side, I pinned these fantastic portraits of myself.
I then proceeded; I looked center, left, right and center again. Comparing the versions I suddenly felt no connection to me in the middle.
From there on, whenever I would encounter a new someone I would hand them a picture, either from the left side or the right side of the mirror – for them to see me, as I see myself.
The following series of portraits is the fruit of a juicy collaboration between Autuas Ukkonen and Mortimer Dyster– made in admiration to Pierre et Gilles, created from pure love.
